Trip to Adichunchanagiri Mutt

Another wonderful weekend experience, I love to share with you all.

We visited Adichunchanagiri Mutt situated @ Nagamangala its exactly 115 KM from Bangalore. Its around 2hr & 30min drive. Perfect spot for the weekend plan.

Sri Adichunchanagiri mutt is situated on a rocky hill at an altitude of about 3,300 ft surrounded by tall trees, mountains and beautiful landscape. On the hilltop there is temple dedicated to lord Kala Bhairaveshwara.

Spectacular stone temple dedicated to Lord Kala Bhairaveshwara was constructed at a cost of Rs 85 crore by Adi Chunchanagiri Math seer Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji.

Temple is in the Dravidian style of architecture, the Vimana Gopura is in the style of the Cholas. Impressive stone structure of the temple has used both locally available as well as black stones brought from Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu. Over a hundred sculptors and innumerable laborers have toiled round-the-clock over nine years to complete the temple.

Adi Chunchanagiri is the only temple dedicated to Lord Kala Bhairava in the entire region of South India. Uniqueness of the temple lies in its usage of stone. Be it the doors, the pillars, or the ceiling of the temple, everything is in stone. Temple structure has about 172 pillars.
