I love to share the Shivanasamudra Trip experience with you all.

August 2nd 2009

We started around 8am from Bangalore, On the way we had our break fast at Kamat Lokaruchi Janapadaloka Archakrahalli Ramanagara.

Route :-
Bangalore-Bidadi-Maddur-Malavalli- Shivanasamudra.

There are 2 routes to reach Shivanasamudra, First is the Bangalore – Mysore (SH-17) & second from the Kanakapura road. We took the Bangalore – Mysore (SH-17). It took around 2hr and 30 min drive to reach Shivanasamudra. Luckily the connecting road between the Malavalli and Shivanasamudra was very good due to the previous months general elections all the roads were newly tarred.. wow we had very smooth ride.

To reach Malavalli we need to take a deviation after maddur remember once you cross the famous Maddur Tiffany’s Restaurant slow down … continues for around 200 meters there is a deviation where u can see the Shivanasamudra direction board take a turn there towards Malavalli to reach Shivanasamudra around 50min drive.

Gaganachukki waterfall can be best viewed from the view point, all my Blog photos and videos are taken from the view point its also safe, there is one more approach to falls from the Darga Hazrath Mardane Gaib also called as Darga view point where we can enter the falls its very very dangerous. From the below video we can see the Darga entrance. From Gaganachukki Bharachukki falls is around 12 to 15 Km drive. For both the places grama panchayat collects the entrance fee and bridge fee of 20Rs and 10Rs.

Useful Information and Tips :-

Best time to visit Shivanasamudra Falls is during the rainy season July to October.
Shivanasamudra Falls is 140 Km from Bangalore & 60 Km from Mysore.
Pack your lunch and eatables no good hotels near the falls.
Try to visit in early hours to avoid huge crowds.
Near by places to see Hoysala temple at Somanathpur (Talkad) & Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary.

Trip to Adichunchanagiri Mutt

Another wonderful weekend experience, I love to share with you all.

We visited Adichunchanagiri Mutt situated @ Nagamangala its exactly 115 KM from Bangalore. Its around 2hr & 30min drive. Perfect spot for the weekend plan.

Sri Adichunchanagiri mutt is situated on a rocky hill at an altitude of about 3,300 ft surrounded by tall trees, mountains and beautiful landscape. On the hilltop there is temple dedicated to lord Kala Bhairaveshwara.

Spectacular stone temple dedicated to Lord Kala Bhairaveshwara was constructed at a cost of Rs 85 crore by Adi Chunchanagiri Math seer Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji.

Temple is in the Dravidian style of architecture, the Vimana Gopura is in the style of the Cholas. Impressive stone structure of the temple has used both locally available as well as black stones brought from Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu. Over a hundred sculptors and innumerable laborers have toiled round-the-clock over nine years to complete the temple.

Adi Chunchanagiri is the only temple dedicated to Lord Kala Bhairava in the entire region of South India. Uniqueness of the temple lies in its usage of stone. Be it the doors, the pillars, or the ceiling of the temple, everything is in stone. Temple structure has about 172 pillars.

I am back with one more memorable trip experience. …

February 2nd 2008.

On Saturday early morning around 7:30 am we started our journey in my Getz car towards kolar. We reached kolar at 9:30 am, we took the kolar bypass road for reaching our first pit stop @ Woody's ,Nagarjuna Hotel its exactly around 75 km from Bangalore Basavanagudi. Woody’s is the only recognized vegetarian hotel there. If u visit the hotel then don't forget to try the rave dosa & pongal they are very tasty.

For reaching kolar we need to take KR Puram Hanging bridge route and continue on old madras road ,then on the way we crossed Basavanapura - Veerenahalli then we reached Hosakote (NH 4) , from there it’s a straight narrow road to reach kolar. It’s a National Highway 4 but the roads are not so good …its doesn’t look like NH road.

After reaching kolar we need to take the route via Malur taluk, Bangarpet route just follow the direction boards, later we will cross the Bethamangala, we will also cross the Koti Lingeshwara temple to reach Guttahalli. Guttahalli is 39 km from Kolar. Bangaaru Tirupati is situated in Guttahalli it was our 2nd pit stop.

Bangaru Tirupati Venkateshwara Temple is a historically famous well-known pilgrimage center in Karnataka. Bangaru Tirupati is also known as Chikka Tirupati. It is said that, long back, Bhrugu Maharshi had created a hillock of about 40 mtrs huge and was utilized for meditation purpose. Just below the hillock is Garuda holding the big snake. The temple itself has a very impressive gopuram and very big kalyani.

Venkataramana, also called Srinivasa idol in the temple is very small and very attractive has to be viewed from a six-holed window & on the other hillock there is Goddess Alamelu Mangamma (Padmavathi) temple.

Mythology {Source Deccan Herald}

According to mythology, Lord Mahavishnu, while washing the feet of Brughu Maharshi in Vaikunta, had squeezed an eye present in one of his feet.With this, Brughu Maharshi was purged of his pride and he sought Moksha, from the hands of the Lord, it is said in the Mythology.

Lord Mahavishnu blessed him by stating that, he would take the avatar of Ekantha Shrinivas in Bangaru Tirupati. Lord Mahavishnu later asked him seek his blessings with the help of his yoga nethra and he would attain moksha. Similarly, Brughu Maharshi meditated for several years and later visited Bangaru Tirupati Temple and with the help of his yoga nethra and sought the darshan of Lord Venkateshwara through the kindi (small window) of the temple and attained moksha.

Akaktaha darshana

From that day, devotees seek darshan of Lord Venkateshwara from the kindi which is also popularly called as the ‘Akaktaha’ darshana.

Six behaviours

There are six holes in the kindi, symbolising the six human behaviours called - kama, krodha, lobha, moha, mada and matsara. When the devotees come here, they forget these six behaviours and seek the blessings of the Lord.Among the 108 Tirupati temples, Bangaru Tirupati is one of the most sacred places.

The Shriswami Pushkarini is also famous here. Shravana maas, Maaghamaas and Shivarathri are very popularly celebrated here. Every Saturdays special poojas are done. Temple timings : - 8am to 8pm.

Koti Lingeshwara Temple, Kolar.

Our 3^rd pit stop was at Koti Lingeshwara Temple it’s the biggest shiva temple in Karnataka spread oven an area of 15 acres. Temple main attraction is the worlds biggest linga of 108 ft tall , matched by a huge figure of Nandi of 35ft tall. As the name suggest this place soon will have One crore lingas. Till now (February 2008) they have 85 lakh shivalingas have been installed.The temple houses shrines for Manjunatha, Panduranga, Srinivasa, Panchmukha Ganesha, Panchamukha Hanuman, Rama-Sita-Lakshmana, Ayyappa, Annapoorneswari, Santhoshimatha, Kannika Parameswari, Raghavendra swami, Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara temples. Koti Lingeshwara temple is around 29 km from kolar.

Anthargange

Anthargange was our final pit stop, its around 6 km from kolar. Anthargange has huge volcanic rocks and boulders scattered all over. There are around 200 steps which will lead u to the top of the hill, on the top of the hill there is an ancient shiva temple & big kalyani.

Vahan Yatra 2007 (Auto Expo) at KTPO, Whitefield in Bangalore.

If u are a bike and car lover then definitely you should visit the Expo. Very well organized show, leading companies like Hyundai, Honda, Toyota, Maruthi, Tata, Ford, Skoda, Reva, Fiat displayed there new cars.

Star attraction was by Yamaha bikes.

Trip to Golden Temple, Vellore

I recently visited the Sri Narayani Peedaam , in Malaikodi, a small village about 8 kilometers outside the town of Vellore.

We started our trip on Saturday 17th November 2007, From Bangalore at 8:30 AM in my Getz car.

Route Map :-

Hosur Road - Electronic City(NH7) - Attibele(NH7) - Hosur(NH7) - Kamandoddi(NH7) - Shoolagiri(NH7) - Melumalai(NH7) - Kurubarapalli(NH7) - Krishnagiri (NH7) - Bargur (NH46) - Vaniyambadi(NH46) - Ambur(NH46) - Pallikondaj(NH 46) - Vellore(NH46).

It took around 45 min to cross Electronic city from Basavanagudi as it was Saturday morning traffic was bit less, later we crossed the Karnataka border, then we entered the National Highway - 7 no sign of traffic ,wow super fast 4 lane roads well maintained clean roads.

In Krishnagiri we need to take deviation towards NH-46 Just fallow sign boards.

On the way u will find 3 Toll gates 1st at Krishnagiri (NH7) Toll Fee Rs 38/- 2nd at Vaniyambadi (NH46) Toll Fee Rs 53/- and 3rd Toll gate at Pallikondaj (NH 46) Toll Fee Rs 65/- . all fee is for Private Car/Van/Jeep valid for 24 Hours only. Fee differ for Buses and Taxis.

We reached Vellore around 12 Pm ,On the way we had our lunch in Hotel Baby Residency No 7, Officers line, Vellore – 632001. We reached temple around 1:30 PM.

Golden Temple is exactly 225 KM from Bangalore (Basavanagudi) its around 4 hrs drive.From Vellore District temple is exactly 8 km far.

Temple parking block open field, u can c my silver color Getz car in the center. Place is heavily crowded with buses cars and all types of taxis. From parking block temple entrance is 5 min walk.

Once we enter the temple complex u will find metal blocks each with a capacity of 60 to 80 chairs. There are around 6 to 7 blocks similar to Tirumala Tirupati Q block. Till the blocks are filled gates will not be opened. This is the one way of entering the temple other way is we can purchase a archane ticket worth of 250/- valid for 2 person, with this ticket we can directly enter the temple without standing in the Q. In the Temple entrance u will be checked twice manually and also by metal detector. Inside the temple No electronic goods {Mobiles, Handy cams, Digital Cameras} are allowed. So u need to drop all your electronic goods in the counter or in your car.

We can reach the temple only through a star-shaped pathway, laid to a distance of 1.5 km. On either side of the pathway, the messages of 'Amma' and quotes from Bhagavad Gita, Bible and Quran are displayed.

Don’t forget to carry snacks and light food items. Since its 1.5 KM long walk it will take around 2 hrs. So better carry all of them on the every corner of pathway u will find refresh point with taps and mineral water bottles are available.

You never get bored walking in the temple, green landscape, artificial water fall and fountains and lots ….wow its like entering in your dream world .. The lighting is arranged in such a way that the temple glitters even during night. With intricate carvings and sculptures, the entire structure, except the walking space, has been plated with gold. It has a rajagopuram, resembling the Tirupati temple, with 36 pillars around. Even the central chandelier is made of gold.

Sripuram temple is open from 7am - 8pm all 365 days. Long waiting periods for the darshan on weekends and holidays.
